I’m your Average Joe fortysomething type of guy. I have a Wife and Daughter as I’m sure most of you do. I don’t consider myself a “Survivalist” in the way that most people think of a survivalist. I’m not Rambo living in a fortified bunker someplace in the remote West. I live in a small town in North Central Oklahoma. My home is located at the outskirts in town in an older subdivision. We have jobs, cars and all the problems that most American families face.
I grew up in the Country and was lucky enough to have Parents who allowed me to roam free and a Father who taught me woodsmanship. He also taught me how to hunt, trap and fish. These things have stayed with me all of my life. My life and work has taken me all over this country and I’ve lived in or near some of the largest Metro areas of this Great Nation. I’ll take the peace and quiet of rural America thank you!
My Parents also taught me how to think for myself and to be Independent!
Like most of you, I haven’t liked the path this Country has been heading down for many years. Although I’m optimistic that we as Americans will turn it around one day, I’m also a realist and realize that I should be preparing for the worse in case we don’t. Which it looks like we’re going to be in for rougher time before it gets better.
Recently my Wife and I have been developing a five year plan which includes a move away from the population centers and further back into a rural setting. Not only to raise our Daughter, but to prepare for worsening times should they arise.
Part of the reason I started this blog is to chronicle our plans and actions as well as sharing ideas with some of you who have already made such moves. In doing this, I hope to help others who are thinking about or in the planning stages of such a move as well. So bear with me as I try and put this blog together. Feel free to jump in at any time and offer your opinions or advice. That’s what this thing is all about.
